@ValueAnalyst1 During my free trial FSD, my car would miss my exit every day because of construction. The map on the screen would show the exit .5 miles further. If vision only works, why couldn’t it see the signs for the exit?

$TSLA Robotaxis need pre-mapping despite what Biased Influencers told us for years. Tesla is simply copying the Waymo playbook, and that’s why Tesla is many years behind Waymo, and will stay that way.

Considering tesla FSD still can’t tell a police car or fire truck from a dump truck. And it still can’t hear sirens from emergency vehicles. One might think it’s a bit unrealistic that this will be safe (unsupervised) in 6 months. $tsla

Isn’t it an apple to orange comparison? One has no geofences, the other won’t work without detailed mapping. Also, one doesn’t even go onto highways and the other is killing it lately.

Tesla FSD is not remotely close to Waymo right now. It’s behind by at least 100x.
Yes it’s getting better but scaling laws cannot do its magic with fixed amount of compute.

@MissJilianne I bought a model 3 at the end of last year. I have 13.2.1. I had an ambulance driving lights and sirens behind me. It didn’t slow down or pull to the right. Looking at the screen, there was no indication that the computer identified the ambulance as an emergency vehicle.

Tesla Full Self-Driving v12.6.1 on HW3 vehicles is highly impressive. While it’s not perfect or ready for Robotaxi deployment, it’s still amazing.

@wholemars I think it’s good but the mapping, meaning streets and highways, needs work, especially in construction zones. It wants to take you in a way that bypasses the most reasonable route
