The bill REDUCES deficits by $1.4 trillion over ten years when you adjust for CBO's one big gimmick--not using a realistic current policy baseline. Tariffs are taxes. The foreign company or importer pays the taxes, yes. Then they pass the cost onto the consumer — by raising prices. So tariffs are paid by YOU — and the prices of EVERYTHING are about to go up. We’ll call it Trumpflation.

If we make it more expensive to import, we only stop importing and start manufacturing here if/when it becomes cheaper to make here. So the price necessarily goes up either way.

Letting other countries dump on our markets and extract wealth out of the US is unacceptable. They have high tariffs on our goods and we should match them when they ship stuff here. It will bring manufacturing and jobs back to the US and reduce trade deficits. It will be painful but it must be done. The pain should be blamed on those that let this happen in the first place.
