It’s a two-way thing. Spark also blocks 1x1 tracking pixels on emails you receive so that the sender doesn’t get read receipts. Many clients are also SPAM filtering emails that have these pixels. If your emails contain a 1x1 pixel image file to track opens, then email service providers will know that your emails are sales/promotional in nature, and are much more likely to send them to spam.

So good that the DOJ and their competitors are suing them, they don’t like that Apple has built a well-deserved reputation to be the obvious choice in the minds of their customers.
