As a founder building in Africa, how do you validate your idea to know people want what you are building?

@goodgrowthai I guess thats the overall semantic behind my post. It helps to have someone there with you during those uncertain days. Mine is my brother, he is the first person that believed in me, kept me going when it all seemed likely to not happen.

@k_endox Co-founders help. But plenty of co-founder duos are just two people isolated together. The variable isn't headcount. It's whether someone in your orbit is willing to say the uncomfortable thing out loud.

No one tells you how lonely building alone is, this is why I suggest every founder has a cofounder or someone that visibly and emotionally share the burden of bringing new idea to life. Founders can avoid burnout by having a check-in partner.

I knew I had to do something when it took my house agent and representing lawyer 6 months to come up with my tenancy agreement when I rented an Apartment in Gwarinpa in 2022, how could a connected system be this slow, what if I need this document for anything soon enough?

Most people are just one opportunity away from a warm intro. And one warm intro away from a life-changing deal. Access changes everything.

Life is basically moving from point A to point B, which means we are basically going towards something or coming back from something. There’s no point where we rest in between.

@iamjohnsonemma This is the bottleneck for the African startup space because profitability in this space can become a lost battle which means the problem you are solving will have to be dear and needed enough to turn even the smallest of profit for sustainability.

It’s way easier to scale a US business from $2M → $10M than a Nigerian business from $1M → $3M. In the US, customers can pay more, faster, but... In Nigeria? It is harder to increase revenue per sale. In the US, I can CAPTURE demand; in Nigeria? I'll to CREATE it.

@DanThaKaya I think incorporation makes the wall disappear immediately but as you have said, pre-revenue founders might not be able to pull this off. Dealing with the wall for @homelanderHQ as well but we are going the incorporation route since it seems like the most likely option.

I've created two communities with slightly over 1,900 active founders so far. What excites me most? Most of them are building insanely good products. But here's the wall they all hit: Scaling globally? Most payment gateway assumes you're US-based.

@rxhit05 We all know the most optimal choice will be the salesperson. I don’t think any founder should be non-technical at this point.

As a solo founder, who would you hire first? The best developer or the best salesperson?

It seems the Nigerian startup space will be eating good soon if any of these investments I’m seeing on timeline is true. Maybe we don’t need to depend on silicon valley funding us again. I hope this is the beginning of something great for us.
