Brits are so cucked into believing that this is pretty. My whole life growing up in the UK I was taught that this is "nature", the "country-side". It's not. It's an industrial estate.

@Lenny_P_Cover @steven_l_b The nobility drove the serfs off this land and into the factories, deforested it and put sheep there to supply the factories with wool. This was the transition from feudalism to capitalism. Both terrains managed by the same lords in an industrial process. Both industrial.

@Lenny_P_Cover @BigRosco91 True. Many aspects of public access to land are poorly delivered in the USA. FDR sought to address this with new deal works. It is still a much more accessible landmass than the UK where the public have no say in what happens to over 90% of the land.

I moved to the US and was heartbroken to learn that virtually all the beautiful countryside around me is inaccessible. Felt very unfree!

@ianedwards99 Correct. Also industrial production terrain. They call it landbouw where that photo was taken. Literally translation: land-building or terraforming. Here in the Netherlands it isn't considered countryside. You also don't want to live close to these fields. The chemicals are grim.

I'm really glad this very pleasant person has had the opportunity to see natural environments all over the world. A little perplexed that they'd look at British industrial biodiesel rapeseed fields and be like: "Looks like nature to me, pal!"

Hate to tell this dude that the vegetables he eats come out of glass warehouses or plastic sheeted fields, almost all the meat he eats come out of massive aluminium Dutch pig/chicken sheds. If he wants to enjoy monoculture food that means industrial estates, not fields.
