If a great country like the United States can choose elderly leaders to govern, why shouldn’t Nigeria and obidient give Atiku Abubakar the chance to try? And let obi be his vice president so that he will learn

The only serving lawmaker elected on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Leke Abejide, has criticised the leadership style of members of the party’s coalition camp, accusing them of lacking consistency and undermining party development. Abejide, who represents Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, made the remarks during a press briefing, where he defended his role in building the party’s structure, particularly in Kogi State. According to him, he played a key role in nurturing and expanding the ADC’s presence in the state, leading to electoral gains in the 2023 general elections. “In Kogi State, where I come from, I nurtured the African Democratic Congress into recognition, producing two House of Representatives members in the 2023 general election,” he said. He recalled that he was the sole ADC lawmaker from the state elected in 2019, but attributed the party’s growth in 2023 to his performance and leadership. “I came alone in 2019, but by 2023, due to my performance both on the floor and at home, many people believed in my leadership and joined me,” he added. Abejide noted that the party’s influence extended to neighbouring constituencies, including Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, where ADC also recorded electoral success, alongside victories in the State House of Assembly. He further pointed out that his governorship bid under the party helped raise ADC’s profile across Kogi State. Questioning the credibility of those challenging his position within the party, Abejide said many of them were previously in other political parties and had dismissed the ADC before joining it. “Where were those who claim to have suspended me at that time? They were in the Peoples Democratic Party, describing ADC as a party without structure,” he said. The lawmaker accused coalition leaders of habitual defection across multiple political parties, arguing that such inconsistencies raise concerns about their commitment. “I have been in ADC since 2017. I have never changed party. But many of them have moved from PDP to ACN to APC, back to PDP, to APGA, Labour Party, NNPP, and now ADC,” he stated. Abejide said the resistance against the coalition camp is based on what he described as their pattern of using and abandoning political platforms.

"The 'suya' convention that the ADC coalition held on the 14th of April 2026 at an event centre in Abuja is null and void." Leke Abejide says the convention held by the ADC coalition goes against the rule of law and respect for court orders.

Q: Atiku is coming with 6.9 million votes, Peter Obi is coming with 6.1 million votes. Do you think you can match the other guys in your ADC? Amaechi: We are registering now in the ADC. Why haven't the 6 million registered with the ADC? Why do we have 3 million? If I were on the ballot (in 2023), I would have more than 6 million votes.

Panic as Peter Obi Thr+atens to Dump ADC Fresh concerns have emerged within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following comments by former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, suggesting he could leave the party if internal processes are compromised. Speaking during an interview on Arise TV on Monday, Obi explained the reasons behind his past party defections, insisting that his decisions were driven by principle rather than personal gain. Obi recalled that his first major switch, from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stemmed from disagreements with his successor as governor of Anambra State. “I moved from APGA to the PDP because of issues with my successor. Rather than allow it to become t+xic and become destructive to governance of the State, I moved out,” he said. According to Obi, his experience in the PDP was not significantly different, as he claimed the party environment was dominated by disregard for rules and excessive political bargaining. “People were not playing by the rules. It was transactional. I cannot be part of a transactional primaries. I cannot be paying people to go and serve them,” Obi said. He further stated that his move to the Labour Party followed similar concerns about governance and internal practices. “So I moved to Labour, and of course like I said, government came into same system, which is very clear, I escaped from the fire they started. “I’m in ADC with the same people, some of whom have left PDP and other parties but we are going through the same process. If that process is again compromised, I will speak out. If I have to move 20 times, I will.  I have never been involved in rigging of election, at the primary level at the election itself, and after that,” Obi emphasized.
