@fictillius Can all the states agree to a consistent approach to isolation requirements for cases and close contacts, etc. too?? Feel like this now needs to be the same so we’re not all having to Google it every time we dare cross a border. Excluding WA obvs, I don’t count them anymore.

Good. But he doesn’t control the states.

@oliver_adl @Glaven1994 @gasman_al @angiet8080 Yuck. I did wait 2.5 hours in line to get a test in Sydney before flying out which was bad enough but man I’d hate to have to do one at the airport on arrival. This is all such bad policy with 90%+ double vaxx 🤦🏻‍♀️

@kaity_modern @Glaven1994 @gasman_al @angiet8080 Fly into SA and you'd be lucky to stand in a queue for testing at the airport for less minutes than your flight time; and that goes for arrivals from Melbourne (50 mins) as much as it does Brisbane (160 mins).

@Glaven1994 @gasman_al @angiet8080 My husband and I only got checked because we volunteered ourselves to the police desk at Brisbane Airport. Could’ve easily left without doing so but figured we’d do the “right” thing (although I don’t agree that it should even be a thing). Definitely all theatre.

@MartySilkHack Yes I can see why. My issue is a long road trip is actually far riskier than a quick plane flight in the real-world of health risks than through the narrow lens of COVID we all seem to be focussed on. I just hate that these are my options with such high vaxx rates I guess.

@MartySilkHack My husband and I are actually considering doing the 12-hour drive up instead just to avoid the close contact lottery of a plane flight, but then that comes with its own very real risks too. If it were 7 days I’d take the risk of a flight but right now I’m really unsure.

@MartySilkHack But even if you miss out on Christmas Day or the like 7 days is still a hell of a lot better than a full 14 for someone like me who will be up there for a total of 3 weeks.

@rylo75039344 @MartySilkHack Yes and Sunshine Coast too! Especially as many of us travellers will need to be finding an open testing facility on Christmas Eve/Day and Boxing Day. Would be good to know if they will ramp up availability and a free test will be readily accessible.

@MartySilkHack Maybe ask about Good Coast testing capacity…. It needs to be ramped up big time with every tourist needing a test!

What lockdown? This might be the problem. Dozens of people lolling around Rushcutters Bay park yesterday as though at a holiday picnic not even pretending to exercise. They are not getting the message Gladys.

People keep misquoting ATAGI advice. On July 13 it said where there was an outbreak and Pfizer supply constrained, people under 60 without immediate access to Pfizer should “reassess the benefits" of taking AZ, "versus the rare risk of a serious side effect”.

@playswithf1re @oz_f @MattWainscott An 11 second video doesn’t give a sense of the “level of traffic” if you think it does then a cold day is proof climate change isn’t real.

@Glaven1994 100% I think this plays a role. Gladys & Chant deal in facts & non-hyperbolic messaging which many feel doesn’t “sell” things strongly enough. The public insist they hate political salesmanship & want leaders to be “real” but they actually love the former in times of crisis.

This means that a combo like Gladys & Chant seemingly struggle to get a message across. Also I think conviction plays a role, and that doesn't fit someone like Scomo who doesn't have a coherent position much of the time (though he still benefits from male leader privilege).

I do wonder whether there is a big male privilege factor with the popularity that Dan Andrews & Mark McGowan have. Even if their states' health departments are a mess, people still look up to the strongman who delivers a clear message to the community.

Our communities are diverse, but we're all in this together. We know that the only way to stop this virus is to follow the health advice. Thanks to @pruecar and our great local Western and Southwestern Sydney representatives for helping to get the word out. #nswpol
