Many young and intelligent are surrendering the Indian citizenship and permanently moving to USA, Canada, Australia & UAE. And those who stay back in India are constantly being hounded by rogue elements who have patronage of the Central Govt. If there is an illegality, file police complaint, but criminal intimidation and goondaism will push many talented young Indians away from this beautiful country.

Not a correct reading of the situation. There is no centrality of Pakistan in the international game. The fact that the US has given visibility to Pakistan in US- Iran talks is a fall back position of the US after Oman’s mediation failed and the Omani FM spilled the beans and embarrassed the US. In this Iran episode, it is Trump that has boosted Pakistan, not the Islamic world. India is not isolated. India’s footprint on the global stage is far greater than that of Pakistan. We are part of G20 and get regularly invited to the G 7 meetings. Our political and economic weight accounts for this. Russia is a very strong partner. The US is our biggest economic partner. We have very productive ties with the Islamic countries. In any case, Islamic countries are divided and even fight proxy wars against each other. Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar are examples: in Yemen, Sudan, North Somalia for ex. More than that, Iran is seen as a threat in the Gulf region. There is the Shia- Sunni divide. Key Islamic countries have diplomatic ties with Israel. Pakistan does not. The Gulf countries have drawn very close to India despite Pakistan. IMEC and I2U2 in the Gulf projects exclude Pakistan. We have signed FTAs with UAE and Oman and negotiating one with the GCC. Our ties with Central Asian states are independent of Pakistan. We should keep our sense of proportion.

I don’t think people quite understand Indian isolation and Pakistani centrality in this international game. The reason is very simple. Pakistan is an integral part of a cosmopolitan 2bn-strong Islamic world that stretches from Morocco to Indonesia; India is not.
