Most schools expect teachers to prepare for lessons on their own time without collaboration. If it's so important why don't they pay for it? #Edchat

@tomwhitby I’d like to think that this was an issue because of the pandemic, but we have struggled to get enough subs prior to the pandemic. #edchat

If schools pull teachers from their prep times to cover classes, they are probably not paying substitutes enough. They are also diminishing the purpose for a preparation period. #Edchat

We know that collaborative learning works well for adults, so why don't schools provide time for teachers to collaboratively work on lessons? #Edchat

@CaitlinOrsborne Yes, all of my meetings are scheduled during those times too! It definitely takes away from productive planning time with my co-teacher. #edchat

@kamcbri1 As a special education teacher I use my planning the same. I also have all IEP meetings and eligibility meetings at that time. #Edchat

We are allotted two plan periods a day, but most of the time we have meetings scheduled during those periods as well. I often find myself working at home. As a special education teacher, I am also asked to use those plans to write my IEPs and update goals. #edchat
