🚨Reminder: XChat claim of “end-to-end encrypted” chats is misleading at best.
XChat uses the Juicebox protocol to secure the encryption keys with only a 4-digit code which cannot be brute forced.
While that sounds absurd, the Juicebox protocol achieves this by splitting up the encryption key and distributing it to various independent “realms”, doing it in such a way that there isn’t a single realm that has the whole encryption key and can verify the 4-digit pin independently.
The whole scheme falls apart if all the realms are controlled by a single entity, which is exactly how XChat does it. As you can see in the screenshot of the traffic produced by the new XChat app when creating a new 4-digit pin: all the realms are under the x[.]com domain with an SSL certificate that belongs to X. (The XChat app does not use certificate pinning, which allowed network traffic to be intercepted and decrypted)
Since X operates all the realms, that means X can quite easily recover all the keys for any “end-to-end encrypted” chats in XChat

The U.S. has called for maintaining stability in the area, both Trump and the State Department, repeatedly. They don’t back Israeli annexation. So either he’s lying, or Trump is telling them something else behind the scenes. 🇺🇸🇮🇷🇮🇱 So far today, the U.S-Iran ceasefire is still holding, and somehow the Lebanon one is too, despite Israel's dubious interpretation of the term.
Netanyahu's continuing to carry out strikes in southern Lebanon after Trump said he'd try to rein him in a little bit... that's clearly working.
Both the U.S and Iran are saying they don't need to reach a peace deal, but they'd like one provided it's on their terms... no change there then.
Meanwhile, B-52 bombers are doing practice flights in the UK, ready to hit Iran the moment they get the call, and Iran is pulling old supertankers out of retirement to try and store the oil they can't export.
And finally, Trump's drawing up a list of NATO members to reward or punish based on who helped or hindered the war, like he's Santa Claus.

Every operating system disagrees about what the right arrow key means.
In languages like Hebrew and Arabic, the caret might:
move right
move left
split in two (??)
do nothing
Think about it. Should the caret move logically, or visually?
Movement is actually undefined in Unicode, it’s up to the individual system / app. Windows + Linux tend to use logical order, older MacOS was visual. Microsoft Word is actually its own crazy hybrid.
It get’s *especially* gross at the boundaries of RTL (right-to-left) and LTR (left-to-right) text.
What happens when say, RTL Hebrew has an English (LTR) URL? In memory, the boundary is a fixed offset in the string. But visually, the caret can be in two different places, either the Hebrew side or the URL side.
Technically, modern systems deal with this via “caret affinity”, which is a hidden flag that keeps track of whether you came from the RTL or LTR text previously.
Selecting text between RTL/LTR of course is even more bizarre, and honestly I can’t even wrap my head around it.
If anyone has personal experience, I’d love to hear it. Considering mobile/desktop/browsers/terminals all act slightly differently, I’m sure it’s interesting!
