@davebirkett Good rage bate, safe to ignore anything from a source who ranks Sewell that low lmao

@PrideOfDetroit One request don't spend half the podcast talking about someone who we know won't be working for the team this season....dude has a retirement date, it's been beaten to death and he's already going to be gone...
English

@AdamSchefter Try harder with the april fools, no one will ever believe the NFLPA cares about player safety🤣
English

@DetroitOnLion I like how they ignore the part where Rod Wood already announced his retirement and will not be with the team for the 2026 season. But one of Rod Wood's last acts as president being to alienate another retired all world player is very on brand.
English

@DetroitOnLion Looks like 26 teams have GMs with nothing better to do, meanwhile Bard Holmes and a handful of other GMs are busy working lol
English

@duquette_j11797 @Lions ERFA basically sign or retire, deal is negligible for salary cap
English

@Lions So you consider it news that Bates would rather not retire, so he is forced to sign his ERFA contract lmao
English

@RapSheet ERFA don't have a choice besides sign or retire, it's not really news
English

@DetroitOnLion Rather than looking at the Lions cap on top 7 cap hits in a vacuum how does it compare to other successful teams with a starting level QB?
Question to ask fans what free agent at the time of extension would you rather have than who we extended?
English

Within this article, I pointed out that seven players (Goff, Sewell, St. Brown, Jamo, Joseph, McNeill, Hutchinson) are taking up just over 50% of the Lions' 2026 cap space.
That's not including DJ Reed ($17.9M cap hit) or Derrick Barnes ($9.8M), who account for another 9.2%.

Lions GM Brad Holmes explains why they didn’t spend big at EDGE, free agency prideofdetroit.com/detroit-lions-…

@Justin_Rogers Looking forward to it. I know you're well aware, but the vast majority of fans aren't panicking. Just the vocal minority at follows what 97.1 tells them to, aka SoL fans and media rooting for the team to be bad and make bad splash moves at any cost.
English

@KoryEWoods Why don't we compare him to the GMs who were hired the same year or after him?
Here's a game for the podcast.
Pick the GM you'd rather have instead of Brad Holmes: (same year example lol)
Terry Fontenot: Atlanta Falcons
Chris Grier: Miami Dolphins
Andrew Berry: Cleveland Browns
English

Brad Holmes will enter his 6th season as the #Lions GM this fall. The GMs he's compared to didn't achieve their Super Bowl success until year 8-10. Obviously there are things he's going to have to do to improve this roster.
I just don't find the comparisons to be fair
English

@MontgomerDavid You didn't have to lie about wanting out dude. You didn't get the touches you need last year and Gibbs was going to be the feature back this year. It's ok to want out, no one would have blamed you. Thanks for running so hard while you were here.

English

@DetroitOnLion And yet the 49ers have just as many injuries without tackling in practice over the same time period. Everyone getting riled up about this doesn't have the context needed. SoL fans love to get mad, miss the old days and its been harder to find things to be mad about under DC & BH
English

@Justin_Rogers I mean...the Lions roster will be decimated by injuries, where the Lions will get hit is a question mark (besides safety) but a few position groups on the team will be gone. It's good he has experience running an offense missing key pieces

Working on a Petzing film study. Watched two games from late '24 to get a sense of what he does with a full deck of talent, the '25 opener, and a mid/late-season game where the roster was decimated by injury, to see how he adjusted to remaining talent. Aiming to write up conclusions early next week.
English

@Ryan_POD Not that it wasn't the correct decision. We will never know how Ratledge would have performed as a rookie at center...could have been better could have been worse /shrug
English

@Ryan_POD I mean it was Glasgow and Goff who pushed for Glasgow center after Ratledge having one week of practice at center. Glasgow got what he asked for, not something forced upon him.

With Tomlin and Harbaugh no longer with their teams that makes Andy Reid the longest tenured coach in the NFL
Followed by Sean McDermott (Bills) Sean McVay (Rams) and Kyle Shanahan (49ers)

Breaking: After a historic 19-season run in Pittsburgh, Mike Tomlin just informed his team that he is stepping down as the Steelers head coach, sources tell @JFowlerESPN and me. The Steelers now will be looking for only their fourth head coach since 1969.
