Any Sublime Text ppl who switched to VS Code: Did you figure out how to do the amazing multi cursor Find and Replace stuff like we do in Sublime Text? Like I can search for a linebreak then move around the text with my cursor keys and holding ALT (I think?) and left right cursor jump from word to word Very useful for mass editing or normalizing data files

Are there instructional resources out there that describe *when* and *what* to cite in academic writing? I'm looking for helpful resources for my class, but most of the learning activities I've found are not very useful because they are only about how to format references.

@moenig @SnapCloud This is so cool!! I love that CORGIS is getting this kind of usage. Data is so fundamental to computing, it's wonderful how much you can do with it in these tools. <3 Snap!! Not just amazing visual stuff in it's toolbox, it's got so many bells and whistles nowadays :)

@ilkka_j Submitted a paper first time to Koli. The reviews were rigorous and detailed and I love the rebuttal round. I hope more conferences in CSed adopt it. Thanks for chairing!

Following the heated discussion around #SIGCSE. Seems that people are upset for many reasons, I hope that we at #kolicalling have been and will be able to provide an inclusive and welcoming #csed venue for everyone. Early-bird reg open for a week still at kolicalling.fi

@lauren_marg Are retrospective pre tests at the time of post comparable to data collected using standard pre-tests?

Excel (or G Sheet) fans: what's your fave way to do this? I have a sheet as shown. Want to figure out total $ per month AND year (ie, 2d grid of totals). Happy to ignore that weeks cross months: just assign to posting date. Wonder if your sol is better than mine!

@amyjko Brainstorm new models maybe. Let researchers publish in non peer reviewed/lightly peer reviewed venues and once a paper has gained enough traction within a community, then invite authors to submit based on the merit of the idea or contribution.

I’m getting the strong impression from everyone around me that academic peer review is in a state of collapse — reviewers are increasingly difficult to find, program committees and editorial boards are collapsing, and yet there are more submissions than ever. Discuss.

@JaimeRuizUF I think that old thread had some recommendations: mobile.twitter.com/amyxzh/status/… Also, Wired had a video on designing speakers which understand inclusive accents which we used last time in the course. Students likes that one as well
Amy Zhang@amyxzh

If you've taken or taught an intro to HCI course, you've probably seen *that* IDEO shopping cart video (youtube.com/watch?v=izjhx1…). There's useful reasons for having students watch it but it's also pretty old and flawed in some ways. Has anyone found an interesting alternative?

HCI folks. I recall a while back there was a discussion about alternatives to the IDEO Deep Dive video that was more inclusive. I spent all morning trying to find it in my tweet stream with no success. Any recommendations?

What do people use to annotate (comment, highlight) PDFs when using an iPad? It looks like the default option is very limited and there are many alternatives.

@guzdial @blogCACM Excellent blog! How did engineering identity researchers dealt with sub-disciplines in engineering such as Civil/Mechanical/etc. to convey an "engineer" as a professional? Do you see an overlap between engineering sub-disciplines & computing sub-disciplines such as SE, AI/ML,etc?
