You are allowed to exercise because you enjoy it, because it's challenging, because it relieves stress, because it's social, or because it's “you time". Just because exercise is good for weight-loss doesn't mean that's all it's good for. Movement is medicine for the body AND mind.

“I can’t lift anymore, it destroyed my body.” “Did you try managing load, volume, and just let go of the need to push all the time?” “No.” Maybe, it wasn’t the lifting.

Just flew across the country and spent an entire weekend with a bunch of people I met on the internet who value all the things I value in life. 10/10 recommend.

I’m just going to stop talking out loud about the things I’m excited about because they keep getting messed up. My @taylorswift13 tickets are now trash seats because of something that wasn’t even our fault. So upset.

In December I could barely run a 14 minute mile. Today my fastest split was 10:18. Hard work, works!

*loathes neuro all through PTA and PT school* *takes a PRN job in inpatient rehab where 60% of the caseload is neuro* Oh, the irony…

You are more likely to get hurt from *not* resistance training than you are to get hurt from resistance training. Lifting weights isn't nearly as dangerous as the people who don't lift weights tell you it is.

I’ve been so tired all day so I went to bed early. It’s now 2 hours later and all I’ve done is scroll through pictures of my daughter and marvel at how big she is now. This is what being a mom is like - can’t wait for them to go to sleep then you miss them when they do!

Our company served us fettuccine alfredo for lunch today. I just went for a run. Let’s just say Michael Scott was accurate in his depiction at the Michael Scott’s Dunder Mifflin Scranton Meredith Palmer Memorial Celebrity Rabies Awareness Pro-Am Fun Run Race for the Cure.

@HidFit Agreed. I felt stuck in a mill at one point and it took me a while to realize the environment was the problem, not me. Got out as soon as I could!

@karamarks_dpt Quite true for career starters and travelers 👍🏽. Not recommended long-term for the ambitiously passionate practitioners. Burnout is real for healthcare providers. The mills are a fast track to complacency and the habitual status quo intervention as burnout sets in.

You can work in a PT “mill” and still be a good physical therapist. 1/🧵

@FFizzeo I think there’s always another option, people just aren’t always willing to do the other things. And I think most people in those situations probably don’t even realize what they are getting into with loan debt. Gotta do your homework before you commit to something pricey.

@karamarks_dpt I understand your sentiment, but options are not promising. Tbh, the DPT is killing PT & these are related phenomena. Young, naive PTs slaving in mills to pay of insane debt. No wonder attrition so high.

@FFizzeo Mainly I just don’t want people to feel stuck/give up on the profession if they are stuck in a crappy clinic. A lot of really good PTs leave because they think that’s all PT is when there are other options out there.

@FFizzeo That’s why I put “mill” in quotes. I feel like people have different definitions of it. Left it up to interpretation to get other peoples opinions. Definitely NOT promoting unethical billing or “skilled” care provided by unskilled/untrained people.

If your management isn’t going to take care of you, how do you expect to give good care to others? You can’t pour from an empty cup. 7/🧵

All that being said, don’t ever feel obligated to stay somewhere you are miserable because you feel like you owe something to the patients or the company. 6/🧵
