@leejohn61 @eric4ok @GigaBeers The US exporting light crude while importing heavier crude isn’t a conspiracy. Different refineries are optimized for different oil types. But saying “we can’t refine our own oil” and are making “huge profits” off Iran is a massive oversimplification.

You realize the oil we are selling is ours. It is a light crude. Our existing refineries cannot process it efficiently. No company wants to jump through the government regulations to build a refinery that will. We are selling the oil we can’t refine, and refining the oil from Venezuela. We are making huge profits from this.
