WHY? When I call out social media weather nonsense, many have called me “mean”, “disrespectful”, and “jealous” among other choice words. First off, I am a big freedom of speech guy. You can spew nonsense all day and I really don’t care. But, when your rhetoric begins to impact my people (the ones I serve) in a very harmful, negative way, then you will have to deal with me. One example; this guy on TikTok gathered just under 9 million views for his video posted well before Christmas, promoting a snow storm for the southern U.S. January 3/4 (today and tomorrow). What is the harm? I had one person telling me they were going to cancel elective surgery scheduled today because of the TikTok guy and his snowstorm. One family was going to cancel a needed vacation trip to the beach. It seems as a society we have lost our ability to distinguish truth, and how to find a reliable source of information. Some believe anything they see on these social platforms. Concerning snow and ice, it is all we can do to get it right 24/48 hours in advance. There is no skill in any specific forecast out to two weeks. Only in pattern recognition. These folks certainly don’t understand numerical weather prediction in any way, and most of them don’t understand how the atmosphere works. Please consider finding credible sources when it comes to weather, and always “think before you share”. Call me what you want, but I will always be protective of the people I serve here.

In this months JAMA PEDS, survey results were presented on the RAFT study sites. Dialysis has changed across the US in a few short years. Please take a look at the comments from parents with babies born with bilateral renal agenesis. @neokidney jamanetwork.com/journals/jamap…
