A story that has largely slipped under the radar… The government is to revamp compulsory purchase rules to limit the value of Green Belt land that becomes available for development in an attempt to speed up housing delivery. Public bodies will be encouraged to use the new compulsory purchase rules to speed up land assembly, particularly where landowners are blocking schemes or holding out for higher prices.
