A very valid point raised. The Govt. must take cognizance of this injustice and safeguard the democratic spirit of KCC&I. @OfficeOfLGJandK @srinagaradmin @cm_jnk @divcomkash  @anandjainips @JmuKmrPolice @KashmirPolice @SrinagarPolice

My esteemed members of the business community in general and KCC&I Members in Particular . I would like to take a moment to clarify a crucial aspect that is at the core of the Constitution of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCC&I). Our Constitution explicitly states that there is *no party system or group system* in our elections. Instead, every candidate participates as an **individual**, with the objective of representing their specific sector of business. This fundamental principle ensures fair representation, where each sector has a voice and every member’s choice matters. Once the elections are concluded, the (21) elected Executive Committee members convene and, utilizing their independent wisdom and judgment, propose office bearers, including the President. The individual entrusted with the Presidency must possess the following qualities: * A proven track record of excellence in at least one business sector, complemented by a working knowledge of all business areas. * A deep understanding of finance, markets, and the fluctuations of the economy. * Above all, a person of **integrity, honesty, and moral uprightness**, with no prior convictions of any act of immorality or corruption. Regrettably, in recent times, the practice of forming groups prior to elections has emerged, which directly contradicts the spirit of our Constitution. Such grouping promotes unethical tactics—artificial vote banks, luring or corrupting members to vote for a particular "side," and monopolizing the Chamber for vested interests. This type of practice suppresses dissenting opinions and undermines the very values upon which KCC&I was established. I firmly believe that every member should exercise their independent choice, guided by their own knowledge of the individual candidates, rather than succumbing to pressure from groups seeking power at any cost. The Chamber must remain a symbol of dignity, democracy, and fairness, where diversity of opinion is safeguarded, and leadership is entrusted to those who genuinely merit it. As your representative, I pledge to uphold the sanctity of our Constitution, protect the rights of every member, and ensure that the KCC&I remains free from monopolistic practices that betray its purpose. We, as CEPC and other stakeholders, stressed the urgent need to stop the sale of machine-made carpets in handicraft showrooms, highlighting the serious threat this poses to artisans’ livelihoods. Ms. Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles, stated that the Central Government will soon undertake a major exercise to comprehensively address this issue across the J&K, demonstrating a strong commitment to protecting authentic handmade crafts.

Who exactly is sabotaging the famed Kashmiri handicraft industry by flooding showrooms with machine-made fakes? This deliberate wrecking of artisan livelihoods is unforgivable—anyone backing this is complicit in killing our culture and economy! @OmarAbdullah

I honestly don’t understand elected CM is giving on record directions to stop sale of machine made stuff in handicraft showrooms but then who is trying to ply a spoilsport thus depriving lakhs of Artisans their livelihood! Hope good senses prevail before more damage is done @OmarAbdullah @nasirsogami @OfficeOfLGJandK

Instead of promoting the artisanal crafts economy of Kashmir, the elected UT Government has just sounded its death knell by allowing sale of machine made goods in handicraft stores. A very regressive decision. timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/srinagar/…
