🇺🇸 Farewell and thank you for the warmth of your welcome and the kind support you gave us throughout our first visit to the US as King and Queen, in this, your special anniversary year. We leave a piece of our ❤️ behind and take a little of yours back home with us. Until the next time… God Bless America. - Charles R. & Camilla R. 📷 @ChrisJack_Getty / Getty Images

Virginia American Revolution 250 Commemoration
America. Made In Virginia. From its founding ideals to its leading figures, more of what made America happen, happened here in Virginia. Which makes Virginia the ideal place to learn about our nation’s beginnings, no matter what state you call home.

UNBELIEVABLE! On the grounds of the White House Lafayette Park. No different than Jan 6. Why would Law Enforcement allow this ? Why were these monuments not fenced before the protest?

After British General John Burgoyne surrendered to American General Horatio Gates, the Convention Army as it was called, was marched to Cambridge, Massachusetts under guard by John Glover's troop. They arrived on 8 November 1777. The rank and file was quartered in crude barracks that had been constructed during the Siege of Boston, while most of the officers were billeted in houses. The army spent about one year in Cambridge under the watch of General William Heath, while negotiations concerning its status took place in military and diplomatic channels. It was a difficult and trying assignment for Heath. His diary is full of letters he received from officers, including General John Burgoyne, filled with complaints and demands. Heath handled it all with professional patience. In November 1778, the Convention Army was forced marched from Cambridge, Massachusetts, 700-miles south to Albemarle Barracks in Charlottesville, Virginia. They arrived in January 1779. Burgoyne did not share this fate, as he and some officers succeeded in gaining permission to return to Europe on parole. A year and a half after the October 17, 1777 surrender at Saratoga, the Convention Army was bleeding deserters, with only about 1,450 British and 1,650 German officers and soldiers remaining.

@ellencarmichael @Julio_Rosas11 Universal human rights. Abolitionist. Women’s rights. He stood up to the found fathers in 1824-1825 59 years after the Revolution to get them to end slavery. They need to go read a book.
