Financial repression toolkit: - Wealth tax - Buybacks tax - Dividends controls - Taxes on stocks over bonds - Credit control / guaranteed loans - Rent controls - Other price controls (energy) - Capital controls - CBDCs

It’s not only me. The fear of a “command and control” economy or a “support -> recovery -> social justice” cycle keeps growing!

BMW is (almost) dead.

I'm not saying what this guy did was right - I'm just statistically pointing out that the company leasing this warehouse, Kimberly-Clark, has a CEO named Michael D. Hsu that made $16.4 million dollars last year. That is $7,884.62 an hour. Food for thought.
Power to the People ☭🕊@ProudSocialist

A worker in Ontario, California sets his company’s warehouse on fire and has a message for the CEO: “There goes your inventory. All you had to do was pay us enough to fucking live.” Expect to see more of this as people struggle to survive under our decaying capitalist system.

"But here is what we found when we tested: We took the specific vulnerabilities Anthropic showcases in their announcement, isolated the relevant code, and ran them through small, cheap, open-weights models. Those models recovered much of the same analysis. Eight out of eight models detected Mythos's flagship FreeBSD exploit, including one with only 3.6 billion active parameters costing $0.11 per million tokens. A 5.1B-active open model recovered the core chain of the 27-year-old OpenBSD bug." aisle.com/blog/ai-cybers…

Claude Mythos is like Hiroshima for software. everything you own online, your bank, your email, your photos, your identity, is now dangerously exposed in ways that didn't exist 48 hours ago that's why Karpathy's digital hygiene guide is probably the most important thing you can read this week here's every step to protect yourself in these uncharted times: > use a password manager for every account > set up physical security keys so attackers can't log in > enable face id and fingerprint everywhere > randomize your security question answers > encrypt your hard drive > get rid of unnecessary smart home devices > switch to signal for private messaging > use brave instead of chrome > switch to brave search instead of google > mint virtual credit cards for every purchase > get a virtual mailing address > never click links inside emails > use a vpn on public wifi > block ads and trackers at the dns level > install a network monitor to see which apps are spying on you full breakdown of each step below:

the number of pixels, the refresh rate, brightness of a panel and laptop battery size should be listed in the battery life charts. Notebookcheck is the only one to do this. If you don’t do this you are misleading the viewer imo

The @Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is FINALLY here! The CPU perfomance is absolutely insane. It’s now the fastest Windows CPU in the world. And GPU is now 2.3x faster than original X Elite. Basically neck and neck with Intel Panther Lake B390 GPU. Video: youtu.be/-EOHSlp5kcc

Apple has reportedly underestimated the sales of the MacBook Neo and now they're in a pickle. MacBook Neo has been selling extremely well, and usually that would be a good thing. But the problem is that it uses binned A18 Pro chips (1 fewer GPU core). Apple only had 5-6 million leftover binned A18 Pro chips, which were unfit for the iPhone, making them essentially "free" for the Neo. This helped keep costs low while maintaining margins. However, with the high demand for the Neo, Apple is on track to run out of the binned chips. They will either have to restart production of the A18 Pro and pay a premium to TSMC (tanking profit margins), stop selling the Neo entirely, or release the A19 Pro MacBook Neo early. Although the last option is unlikely (and could result in the same issue), it is definitely possible.

We've now seen Claude Mythos and know what's possible. OpenAI has repeatedly indicated that "Spud" is likely to have similar quality and power. Google, in turn, has the most compute (5m H100 equivalent) and, with DeepMind, an outstanding research institution. I expect their new Gemini equivalent, "Mythos," to be unveiled no later than May at I/O. The competition is now forcing Frontier Labs to catch up and move forward. In that sense, Mythos was just the beginning.

🇰🇵 Call Kim Jong Un a “fat, ugly pig” to prove that you are not from North Korea During a job interview at a U.S. IT company, a candidate was asked to call Kim Jong Un a “fat, ugly pig” to prove he wasn’t from North Korea. The candidate decided life was more important and walked out. North Korean workers sometimes join U.S. companies remotely, then steal sensitive data or leave security vulnerabilities in the code.

Power Banks on airplanes worry me the most. Never pack them in a checked bag. The cargo compartment has a fire detection system, and a gas fire suppression system (like halon, but I don’t recall if that’s it). Still, we can’t get into it in flight to fight a fire. For carry on, pack it where it’s easily accessible. The idea will be to remove it & put it in a “fire bag” which are pretty effective at containing battery fires. That’s harder to do if you’ve packed it beneath a bunch of stuff that may now also be on fire. If you drop your phone in the seat & can’t find it, do NOT move your seat. You may crunch the phone & ignite the battery. Ask a Flight Attendant for assistance. A cabin fire is at the top of most of our worst nightmares. The Oxygen masks won’t drop – they don’t seal, so it won’t keep smoke out & now we’re feeding pure oxygen to a fire. We’ll be diverting immediately, but it will take time to get on the ground. If the smoke gets too bad, we can “dump” the cabin pressure if needed & clear it out pretty quickly, but that’s a last resort & wont work well below 10,000’ or so. I’ve been told China is starting to ban power banks on airplanes. We may eventually get to that point here. If you have to bring one, make sure it’s in good condition. If you have one of those suitcases with a built in battery, just be aware you’ll have to remove it before checking your bag. If it’s carry on, make sure you can get it out of the bag quickly if needed. Thank you & fly safe!
