@1000HolyPlaces @txsalth2o Bad take. I know you muted because you can't take the heat but you're wrong here. What's the point of receiving stuff you don't need? You don't have to take a gift but if you choose to the requesting that you buy from the list of stuff they need.

@1000HolyPlaces @txsalth2o In the past if you were a new parent you would expect to go out and buy the stuff you need and not expect other people to go and buy it for you.

As for asking specifically to buy from the registry -- I cannot tell you how many times I have been to a shower and almost NOTHING from the registry was purchased, and there were things they desperately needed that they didn't have when it was necessary. Again, showers are for what the BABY needs, and unless you know the person super well and are aware of something they may not have thought of, it's best to get them what you know they need. It's not out of line for new parents to expect those things out of a baby shower, that's the literal purpose of it.

Really disappointed to see thousands of balloons being released in Liverpool in the memory of Welsh drag queen "The Vivienne" These balloons go on to entangle and choke wildlife it's something I often see firsthand.

I got a message this evening. Puppies dumped in the area where I feed street dogs. It was about to get dark and all they had was a tire 🛞. It was time to race up and rescue them… (1/8)

@Shellzonit @NiallHarbison One of my dogs was dumped on a river bank with his brother as a puppy. Picked up and taken to council shelter, they contracted parvo and his brother died. Lady took him out of the shelter got him treatment and looked after him. He ended up in UK in foster. Before and after pics.

It's a sad situation. In my city, if you try to remove an animal from a bad situation by putting them in your car, the animal shelters will not let you turn them in. They might be able to come out Monday through Friday, but what happens when you find a dog on the weekend or after work hours on those days? We moved to the country with 2 dogs. Within a year our 2 dogs became 6 dogs, with one puppy dying from parvo. When they show up on your property, there's one of two things you can do. Take care of them or let them die. The ones that showed up on our doorstep were seconds away from death. One of the puppies died because of how close they were to death. We were lucky to save the sibling. The hound and the pitbull were starving. The hound had missing teeth, a major tear on her ear, and could barely move. It took weeks for her to recover. The pitbull puppy was almost in the same state as the hound. I will never understand how people can throw animals away like trash. The brown puppy died.

@BettinaSRoss1 I understand how you feel. Council gave planning to demolish bungalow with house at end of our close. There was a beautiful magnolia that had been there since 1974 when bungalow was built. They cut it down and removed it. 3 years later I’m still upset.

@douzts05 @NiallHarbison I’m in UK we adopted a German shepherd from Serbia he picked up commands really quickly. He’s food obsessed so wasn’t difficult. When he first arrived I said to our other dog who completely ignores ‘Fred he understands more than you and English is his 2nd language’.

@NiallHarbison Spectacular. Love this so much. Quick question. When dogs from Thailand go to other countries, do they have a hard time learning new words in English? I know, I know dogs don’t use words, but they are trained to respond to words. Is the transition smooth?
