Since Israel has mandatory conscription, the leftist argument is that Oct. 7 was justified because all Israelis are military members. As I've stated before, ending aid is only the opening request. Leftists will demand a full embargo with Israel being unable to even purchase even defensive weapons. If you concede Gaza is a "genocide" then why would the US sell weapons to continue that? The whole point of branding Gaza a "genocide" was to lay the foundation to implement a total isolation of Israel. Scahill and the rest of the leftists want terrorists to be totally empowered against Israel to strike its population centers and want Israel to be incapable of responding. Of course, this is part of their broader assault against Western civlization as a whole, in which they believe the "global south" are the true moral protagonists and the rest of us are evil imperialists and settlers that should be forced to dissolve our societies and bow down or be murdered.
