Any economic boondoggle promoted, run, and regulated by the federal government is bound to be a catastrophe. Capitalism works, folks. If EV’s are such a great idea, the public would embrace them regardless of price. iPhones are very expensive relatively speaking, as an example, but they are an amazing product and the free market responds. It’s pretty simple really. Windmills and toy cars don’t appeal to the public at large. Future improvements may change that, but we’re not there yet. And government mandates forcing people from using what they prefer are destined to backfire every time. They just piss people off.
