NATO was formed in 1949 to help with the expansion of Russia and the Cold War. It was an alliance to protect Europe and let us put our bases there. That is a fact alliance is broken their are new problems now. Yes they helped after 9/11 but things have changed each countries focus is different. It’s easy to say we are part of NATO but when you need help the alliance isn’t there. We are also a piggy bank for them.
