@ArchaeoBenjamin I’m so sorry that people have to explain away your autism even though you clearly stated that you were diagnosed in ES. There’s nothing wrong with being autistic. There are many brilliant people who are autistic. Social cues are often an issue but the world needs diversity.

I am not autistic because of vaccines or Tylenol. I am autistic because my mom (who owns 100s of puzzles & is obsessed with order & schedules) decided to make kids w/my dad (who reads plane manuals for fun & wouldn't intuitively recognize a social cue if it hit him in the face).

good morning. I gave my students an independent work day today & pushed back their paper deadlines. the end of the semester is tough on them, on all of us. let’s take care of ourselves & each other, academic friends.

@DrBradJohnson How about school board members in the school? School board members and legislators who vote on school issues should have to sub a full day, 2x a year. Real subbing, following lesson plans. Things would change.

There should be a teacher on every school board… and at every table where education decisions are made. Because right now, we’re making policies for classrooms without the people who actually live in them. You wouldn’t design a hospital system without doctors. You wouldn’t build a plane without pilots. But in education… we leave teachers out of the room

I’ve seen more evangelical handwringing TODAY over @jamestalarico than I have in 10 years over Trump. That is maddening. And telling.

I have no issue watching some of my pastor friends criticize James Talarico's theology. I just wish many of them would be as outspoken regarding the theology driving our current administration. That prophetic criticism gap—in my opinion—causes the church to lose credibility.

@JamesAFurey I am a retired 1st grade teacher. Reading chapter books ( how fun for him!🎉) and shoe tying are two very different developmental skills. This is very normal. Over my teaching career, I tied about 5,842,637 shoes.

My son is six, and he can read chapter books but he can’t tie his own shoes. Any advice?
