Yes. Switch if native AI agents, databases, and built-in workflows matter more than local files. Notion turns notes into automated systems without plugins. Premortem: Complex pages and AI stay online-only. Cloud lock-in traps your data. You lose the fluid graph and full customization. Costs creep up and free-form thinking feels boxed in by structure.

@weichselbauml I literally stay bc the built-in embeddings. They’re completely worry-free, best in class and entirely cloud hosted. You can literally just ask a simple question and it ‘knows’ what you want.

I barely use the Claude app anymore... I have canceled my Max plan. Now I run everything in Notion AI chats. I still prefer the Claude models tho (within Notion), they are great. Just the environment cannot keep up with Notion. I tried everything... Local markdown library and using that with Obsidian, Claude skills... and Notion beats them all. It has better usage limits (I get WAY more use on the Claude models within Notion that I get on my Claude subscription). I have a $30 business plan on Notion. Very generous limits on Fable, Opus 5 etc. The cool thing is when I exhaust those, I can still use Sonnet 5 and finish my work. Whereas Anthropic simply locks me out and makes me buy credits. Then I have full access to all the context. I don't have to hunt for files, search other chats. I just type @ and the name of a page or simply mention it and the AI finds it immediately. Then I can right away edit that context. The way it handles data is superior (via databases, the ability to include media). It's also really cool to have a page open in Notion and have the AI chat on the side editing that page. It has really changed how I work. Another big advantage is that you can have multiple windows with tabs (like one window for personal stuff, and separate windows for different clients where I can access open chats/relevant pages). Notion is incredibly good for what I do (personal projects, ghostwriting client work, basically everything that has to do with knowledge work). There are 2 problems with this approach though. Chats are a horrible place to store data you want to access later (this is due to Notion not properly letting you link to them or even search them properly. Claude is a bit better at this). The other is that you kind of lose Claude skills (they are a mess. You have to update them manually and they are really buggy in my experience. Especially if you have like 10+ skills or bigger skills that cover rather complex work processes). My solution are 2 simple keyboard shortcuts (snippets via a shortcut that I just paste into the AI chat, triggered via Alfred): ARCHIVE (when a convo ends or I'm done, i push all context into a permanent page. because chats are not a reliable way to store data: KAIZEN (for extracting process insights) Now I don't have to scroll through a long list of chats within Claude or burn tokens having it go through my .md files. Let's not even mention that i have access to all of my data from anywhere I can access Notion. When I started working with Notion at the last company I worked for, I hated it. I thought it is a sluggish beast of an app. Now it's the main driver of my business.

So @Monumental_Labs is bringing back the art of stone carving: robots mill the stone, artists carve by hand, and custom agents handle the admin work. Craftspeople focusing on their craft… Athena would love it.

@NotionHQ Please change the usage allowance from monthly to weekly like other LLM providers do! Monthly is too long to wait in the fast changing landscape of AI

If you want it done right the first time, hand it to an Opus model (lowest undo rate). Great for the hard stuff… like work that spans four tools. Plug in Salesforce, PostHog, Hex, or any tool via MCP. Ask for a report, and you get analysis, interactive charts, and writing you’d send straight to your team. Near-Fable-level work at half of the cost 🫡

Either endure the stop-start cycle, or simply move the entire workflow over to Claude, Codex, or open models. If we treat Notion as our core workbench, yet the AI layer keeps reminding us “we’re out of quota—take a break,” that experience quickly erodes trust and habits, making us seriously consider relocating our main battlefield elsewhere. If AI is truly meant to become the core layer of the workflow, core users must be given enough reliability and clear upgrade paths; otherwise, the money saved now with these limits will be paid back double in the future through lost habits and a weakened moat.

@kaviabuilds @NotionHQ @FireworksAI_HQ Ever since I discovered this, I’ve been having the best times of my life over the last few days; I swear, I felt like I was in heaven. It was when the limit came into effect that I fell into a depression.

@NotionHQ @FireworksAI_HQ Hey, you should post about the new limits. Like, fine, everyone's slapping on limits now. But only a week's notice? Tech companies these days just squeeze the hell out of everything and screw communication with customers...

@NotionHQ I understand these things have to happen some way or another, but in all honesty, I'm heartbroken. It was the only AI who understood me, from my own journals & life when no one else did. The monthly rate limit on top of this is too much, a weekly limit would be gentler.

software isn't dying because AI is eating apps, it's dying because a whole generation's behavior has changed. last night before bed, my girlfriend pulled out her phone and spent 15 minutes using gpt voice to diagnose why her face was breaking out. she didn't google it, that didn't even cross her mind. we're in a transitionary period of the internet where most businesses are still built for being discovered on google or social media. earlier this year the number of people choosing AI for search over google was ~37%, and that was 6 months ago - which means it could be >50% now. there are a ton of products that will go extinct because information is more available than ever (that is 100% the result of AI), but a lot of the decreased traffic is the result of businesses that haven't transitioned to getting indexed by AI, and are losing ground with SEO. there's always going to be new opportunities, you just can't be stagnate with these market conditions.
@levelsio@levelsio

I'm seeing a trend here of declining revenue and traffic with indiehackers On my own projects too Maybe big VC products too but I wouldn't know cause they don't share revenue To me it seems clear BigAI is cannibalizing everything that used to be apps Not bad btw, just times are changing and we have to adapt

@zachtratar Hey Zach, Would you be able to push for AI readable backlinks in the Notion Agent API? It’s the missing piece and would supercharge context retrieval.
