Thirteen years ago, I was invited back to my alma mater to give a TED Talk on social media in the college auditorium. TED Talks had just started gaining popularity, and it felt like a pretty cool thing back then. The talk itself went well, but afterward, I found myself wondering that was I really adding value through these talks? I realized that while such events might bring me recognition, they weren’t necessarily offering meaningful value to the audience. So, when I later received TED invitations from two IIMs and a few engineering colleges, I declined them. I made a decision that I would only speak to students on topics where I could share my real experiences and stories that might inspire them to BUILD. This Saturday, I’ve been invited to speak at IIT BHU on product innovation, and I gladly accepted. Twelve years later, I’ll be stepping onto the same stage, but this time to talk about engineering and building products. Let’s see how it goes.
