There’s a semi-prominent nba podcast that entrenched themselves in the take that Ausar Thompson is a net negative player months ago and they’ve gotten very weird about it as he’s had his breakout moment

@KuKhahil Weaver was a great scout, there’s no question about it, it’s what he specialized in for OKC before his Detroit tenure. He just wasn’t good at anything else.

Troy Weaver got a lot of things wrong team-building wise, but I will always thank that brother for still noticing Halle Berry at Salvation Army and not drafting Cam Whitmore, Jarace Walker, or Gradey Dick

@KuKhahil A two-way star on the same timeline as our core (20s) that’s a clear #1 or #2 offensive option as a spacer/self-creator next to Cade, and is still a plus defensively (albeit not elite like Ausar), with hope that Ron can supplement. That’s the only archetype I’d consider for AT.

This is probably an offseason topic, but has a listener ask me this today and wanted to throw it the TL: What caliber of player would it take (if you have a player specifically that would be great, too) for you to be on board trading Ausar Thompson?
