🚨Fortnite v40.00 drops Thursday. Here are the known issues dropping with it... Before it hits, Epic posted a known issues list on the Developer Community Forums so you can prep your island ahead of time. This is them being proactive. Appreciate it. 💚 Here's everything you need to know: BLACK FLICKERING ON SURFACES Building surfaces, walls, and props are flickering black, especially when moving through dense geometry. PC and console only, mobile is fine. April 16 fix. BUILDING MATERIALS UI DISAPPEARING On islands with building enabled, the materials counter just doesn't show up. Players can still build but they'll run out without knowing it. Respawning can fix it temporarily. April 1 fix. D-LAUNCHER CRASHING THE EDITOR Placing a D-Launcher in UEFN right now will crash your editor. Live islands are fine but don't place this device until the patch. April 1 fix. SPRINT LAG NEAR HEAVY PROP AREAS Moving fast through prop-heavy areas can cause increasing lag. The denser your island, the more you'll feel this. April 1 fix. TEXT CHAT BROKEN ON SWITCH, IOS AND ANDROID Players on those platforms can't open text chat at all. Voice still works. April 1 fix. BARRIER DEVICE NOT RENDERING RIGHT Could affect how players see boundaries on your island. April 16 fix. Also expect about 2 hours of URC downtime during the update window. BIG WIN THIS PATCH: Epic finally fixed the Cooker Out of Memory errors that were rejecting builds even when they were within limits. Full list on the Epic Developer Community Forums.

@GameDevMicah Hah, I did not know that. They were all pretty damn good, so what a waste. Paradigm Shift worked their asses off figuring out what pixel in the sky we had to aim at to nail all possible hiding spots on a cap point.

It isn't often I get to reminisce about my pro-gaming days. BFV was and is still my favorite version of Battlefield. My team actually won the Battlefield: Vietnam World Championship. Everything about this game was amazing, especially the music that you could play in the vehicles.

Finally catching up on some missed video watching as I've been grinding on getting my roguelike into beta. This is one of the best videos I've seen in a long time. Real passion for what you're doing leads you to look harder and see the many nuances people will miss. @Lionheart is one of those people, and as usual, it's awesome to see @ImmatureGamer bringing this to the community. This is a must-watch for creators/developers wanting to up their game. As always, I emphasize Player Experience, meaning how fun, enjoyable, and meaningful the moment-to-moment gameplay feels for the player. Every design decision should be evaluated through the question: how does this improve the player experience, and does it make the game more fun? The more intentionally you make those decisions, the closer you move toward building a successful game. It is easy to add mechanics that are individually interesting or technically impressive. Many of them may already exist in other successful games, and on their own, they can be solid ideas. The challenge is not creating mechanics. The challenge is ensuring those mechanics intentionally work together to support the same player experience. This reminds me of a point Brett Goldstein made in an interview about writing comedy. He explained that you can have a lot of funny bits, but if they are not intentionally working toward the same purpose, they become meaningless. The same idea applies to game design. You can have a collection of cool mechanics, but if they are not deliberately woven together to create a cohesive player experience, they remain just a collection of mechanics.
