We don't have to minimize the Jalen Thompson signing because we are perennially mad at the Cowboys. It is the biggest splash since Brandon Carr. They have addressed most (not all) positions of need ahead of the draft which is what we collectively beg them to do. You are right that the standard is low. Distrust is everywhere, a result of their own decisions over many years now. But just because we are so used to them being one way does not mean they are necessarily being that way right now.

@rjochoa How is bargain basement hunting any different from every other year? They added one mid-level free agent and brought in someone the Packers were going to cut as a replacement for one of our top defensive players. The standard is so low here.

@SlaterNFL Cowboys aren’t serious about winning, it’s been like that the past 30 years old and it’s going to be 31 years this year. Jerry is a cheapskate that really doesn’t like to go big in FA, he’s too dependent on the draft that he hasn’t done good the last few years.

Take the emotions out of it. Paying 16 mill for a rotational DT wasn’t smart, Dallas got a 3rd and moved the contract. This defense is 2-3 years away. 1-2 if they strike gold, but Dallas getting a 3rd was probably the best they’d ever get. I’m not mad

@davehelman_ @FootsDaKing They can turn it around this year other teams have! Patriots, Seahawks, all show quick turnaround. Offense is top 5.. we could still improve. Draft well. Get another edge and another lb and some depth. Great special teams! Not impossible.
