This makes the film every bit as predictable as if it just did a beat for beat reconstruction of the original trilogy.

@cj_21605 @careywfindley @PalpamemesYT @sw_holocron 8 is the strongest of the new trilogy, but its primary flaw is that it defines itself by what it's not instead of trying to find its own voice. TLJ is *not* ESB. We know that because the big twist is inverted. (Rey isn't descended from anyone special)

And for clarity, the problem with the #StarWars sequels is not that they're too "woke" or preachy or anything like that. It's that they are a sloppy uncreative mess that actively tries to live in the shadow of the original trilogy.

The #Prequels are good if you don't watch them. What does that mean? Well, the concepts they added to the lore made the universe richer. But actually watching them is a truly painful cinematic experience. At least for me. #StarWars

Look, the #StarWars sequels are terrible. I defended them while they were coming out. But much like how season 8 makes #GameOfThrones as a whole suck, the finished product casts a bad light on the entire trilogy and on the entire "Skywalker Saga."
