For the first time in a long time, the Carvel Ice Cream machine is producing ice cream that tastes like Carvel Ice Cream.
For the past few weeks, it has tasted more icy than creamy.

@atlurbanist I respect your position. It sounds to me like we agree on the end goal of free excellent public transit but not about how to get there. I’m not sure the intermediary step of perfect fare collection helps us get there. The city should fund transit via business tax revenue.

@keepingitposi Sure, when MARTA and Atlanta and GA all work out a method to keep operations spending at the same level (or higher) even with free fares, that fixes the problem. But I don't anticipate that happening any time soon. Till then, MARTA needs that fare revenue for operations.

True story. I get free rides on MARTA buses wayyyyyy too often b/c of broken card readers. It's unacceptable for a system that gets a significant amount of operations spending from transit fares.

Whoever had the idea to put the drumline in the Supporters Section today deserves a ton of credit. They greatly enhanced the atmosphere in a way that was uniquely Atlanta.
