Just out of Cabinet and then the Middle East Response Committee. The impact of the conflict in Iran will be felt here at home at a time when we know the cost of living has been difficult for many. This Labour government is working hard to protect families and businesses from the economic shocks as much as we can. Serious times call for serious leadership, which is exactly what the Prime Minister is providing.

@PreetKGillMP We expected you to help the poorest and go after the very wealthy and also make the BBC an impartial news channel. No excuses. These are your choices and the voters showed you.

The Prime Minister has told Cabinet what the country is thinking- stop the destabilisation, the navel gazing and get on with the job. I am backing him because voters did not elect us to turn inward and obsess over ourselves they elected us to deliver change for working people.

Jones is a bit sad about the position Lab is in You chose to go after disabled people refugees & pensioners. You chose to arm a genocide. You chose to side with the super rich & the profiteering utility companies. You chose to tell your supporters to f**k off. This is all on you

I was out campaigning in London and Suffolk. Whatever frustrations there are, removing @KeirStarmer now would be an act of extraordinary self-harm with the public. If you are a @UKLabour MP and you sign any letters tomorrow or if you are facilitating it through moves or plots, remember Reform want you to do this - there then follows three years of "No Mandate, General Election Now" calls. As we would do. So stop panicking, take a step back, accelerate change people can feel and which cuts through and pull together to fix it. It can be done. Three years is a huge amount of time. As for the below, he has clearly learnt nothing.

This was not an easy piece to write. But because of my history in the Labour Party I felt a duty to be honest. We Labour MPs must square up to the truth. These elections were not a normal mid-term drubbing, they were an unequivocal judgement that our actions do not meet the moment. To put the country first, the PM should lead an orderly transition. Senior figures across the party should urgently come together to agree a path forward. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

@BpdLion They're easily manipulated. The msm is feeding this narrative to them and sadly they're happy to believe that, rather than realise that they're being mugged off. Starmer's pathetic and why he has allowed the BBC to platform Reform in particular is crazy.

@glenn_tunes Hopefully the reform councils will implode, Trump will be in jail and Labour will return to the left, otherwise it's pretty grim.

These have been a very difficult set of elections. I’ve felt that in Sunderland. But the answer is not to turn inwards. It’s to take responsibility, come together & face up to the challenges ahead. Keir has won before, he can win again. We need to deliver change, not chaos.

These are tough election results for Labour and I’m sorry to all of those colleagues who have lost their seats. Keir Starmer won a mandate to change our country. We must get on with delivering that mandate - and show how politics can improve people’s lives for the better.

I’m gutted by the results in Wales and across the country. We have to do some real soul searching to drive forward the kind of change our country so obviously desperately wants and needs. The PM is right these are areally tough set of results for Labour.

@darrenpjones @Keir_Starmer As a low paid worker, I have been so disappointed that your party have not looked to tax the very wealthy, not sorted out the dreadful bias on the BBC and the awful decision to stop people peacefully protesting against genocide.

The election results today have clearly been tough for Labour. I’m sorry that we’ve lost so many brilliant Labour colleagues across the country, and thank them for their service. And I’m sorry that so many voters felt unable to vote Labour at these elections. @Keir_Starmer has taken responsibility and committed all of us to delivering on the mandate the country gave us at the last election. The Labour Party shouldn’t waste a minute of the time we’ve been given to get on with that job. If we turn inwards the public will think we’re walking away from that challenge. The next election will have unity or division on the ballot. A Britain built for all, or a Britain for the few. Britain is at its best when we come together and rise to the challenges of our time. And Labour is at its best when our values of equality, collectivism and unity power our project for the British people. We can deliver a better Britain in the years ahead and beat the prospect of division at the next election, but only if we come together, get on with the job and face the future.

Only chance Labour has now is recognising its left-wing base has gone to the Greens and shifting left in response. Instead Labour will chase Reform voters who’ll never vote for them, primarily as Labour is controlled by people who are pathologically opposed to anything left-wing

Nobody should be launching a coup, we need to give party chance to have a thorough discussion about what has happened, why & what’s needed now but everything has to be on agenda. Keir will need to put party & country first in judging whether he is risking opening door to Farage.

If you have the misfortune to end up with a Green councillor on Friday don’t despair! Make them work! Report every pothole, every cracked paving stone, every piece of dog shit, every late bin collection. And get your fellow residents to do the same. Attend council meetings. Go to surgeries. Complain about your council tax bill. Keep them on their feet. Remind them local politics isn’t about palestine - it’s about pavements and potholes.

Statements that have now come to light from a handful of @TheGreenParty candidates are totally unacceptable & require immediate action. There’s no place for anti-semitism or any hate speech in the party. This is a society-wide problem & needs to be rooted out wherever it’s found
