Uganda tourism sector should stop regulating @MinofHealthUG. Ebola is an epidemic of global concern. De-risk tourism in Uganda. We cannot afford risky tourism industry that seeks to cover up an epidemic.

@JZiras @MinofHealthUG @WHO We all standing for facts, Moofer. That flyer that read ZERO EBOLA was factual at the time. Now there’s 2 Ugandans and we've acknowledged that. Even still context matters. And if an epidemic breaks, we’ll be the first to lay it out with the same tone.

@keithasani @MinofHealthUG @WHO Do whatever you like with the information but you have the minister of health stating in plain language. Also Zero Ebola in Uganda means Zero. Nothing to do with the scale of outbreak. Clarity in communication is very in important to tourism and I stand for that.

Dear @SkyNews, I wish you would equally highlight Uganda’s achievements in democracy, peace, stability, and security with the same attention given to Ebola-related coverage. The world also deserves to see the progress our nation continues to make, and to recognize how peaceful, resilient, and democratic Uganda remains under the efforts of its people and leadership of President @KagutaMuseveni every day.

@JZiras @MinofHealthUG I have watched all 7min. Contrary to what you showed, the gov’t has not suppressed any information. Tourism has only fought a false narrative of ‘an epidemic scale outbreak’.. And this is something even @WHO covertly acknowledged and shifted tone.

@DrTedros @nyamadon As someone who is keeping up with everything on ground, I appreciate your new balanced tone. Please continue to separate DRC and Uganda cases as they're completely different 🤝

#Uganda has today reported three new confirmed cases of #Ebola in the country, including a Ugandan health worker, a driver and a Congolese national who travelled from Ituri Province, in the neighbouring #DRC, for medical care. This brings the total number of people in Uganda who have been tested positive for Ebola Disease caused by the Bundibugyo virus to five. I acknowledge @MinofHealthUG for their efforts to detect, monitor and care for people suspected of and confirmed for contracting the Ebola virus. At this critical moment in the outbreak response, it is vital that authorities maintain high vigilance to control expansion of the virus. @WHO is working side by side with @AfricaCDC, and partners in the DRC and Uganda, to contain the outbreak, support affected people, and bolster a coordinated response. x.com/kasujja/status…

Which was true! And of course we still have ZERO local transmission. We still have 127 contacts in isolation until they're declared safe after 21 days, we can still have possible positive cases in time to come. That doesn't mean our situation is as BAD as the DRC. #Clarity

@MwesigyeWalter Uh, there was a whole flyer going around saying ZERO cases in Uganda by the media centre actually.

Dr. Atwine revealed that Uganda requires more than UGX 90 billion to sustain Ebola response and prevention efforts for about three months, describing the amount as insufficient given the scale of work involved. “People say, ‘Oh my God, UGX 90 billion,’ but they have no idea that 90 billion for Ebola response is just a drop in the ocean,” she said.

You must have missed our argument, Godwin! We're not saying there are no or won't be cases of Ebola. We're saying don't lump us up in a worse DRC situation. 5 cases with only 2 under management differs from 132 deaths and over 600 contacts/suspects. #Context.

With this, do we still maintain that there are ZERO cases of Ebola in Uganda and maintain the hawkish attitude against @WHO for wagging an imperialistic war against our 0.05 per cent of the global GDP economy country? 🤷🏾‍♂️

@GodwinTOKO @WHO As long as they don't bundle us up with DRC. They say things like “there is over 600 cases in DRC & Uganda” Like what does that even mean? That UG has 100? 200? 300? I still insist that they maintain context the way they report on Germany.

I doubt the @WHO & its director @DrTedros were malicious or intentional against Uganda with the Ebola announcements. Just a case of them not doing their homework before the initial announcement as they should have. They were careless, reckless, outright stupid even - NOT MALICIOUS! A classic case of Hanlon’s Razor - “Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity”. They are like the boda boda dude who was looking at his phone as he rode at high speed and nearly ran into me yesterday. I doubt he was on a mission to harm, let alone kill me. Just a reckless rider who, without change, will sadly knock someone else. We are really not that big deal in a “Us against th world” war with the planet. Our contribution to global GDP is still about 0.05 per cent. In fact, many nations, institutions mean well for us. We survive on their largess, their loans, and in the case of organisations like WHO and other UN organisations, their support to survive. Taking a hawkish position and starting imaginary wars against other nations and global institutions each time they make a mistake, especially by those who’ll gladly ignore abductions of Ugandans in Uganda, the oppression and exploitation of Ugandans by the regime, that's rather laughable!

@MiiroOf @Nsimefy @DailyMonitor Without context it does sound like propaganda.. it’s clickbait meant to blow it out of proportion. That headline makes it seem there are 10s or 100s cases to people, and news agencies know this, but they have to make money. Only 3 cases, mostly linked to the first 2. Period.

@CanaryMugume Context matters Canary. Summary of the 3 cases: - 2 Ugandans who were taking care of the first 2 cases - & 1 Congolese woman that came in via a chartered flight. All 3 and their contact traces under surveillance.
