@Kelly4Humanity @Chasten It does not take a 6 yr degree to be a childcare provider (as he claims). He incoherently says we need to empower people to get training, and then vilifies training requirements-- totally overlooking the main reason people leave child care: it doesn't pay enough.

I was at the debate, and in real time, I leaned over to a fellow journalist knowing this would be seized upon. There’s nothing wrong with the idea of ‘it takes a village’—it’s actually rooted in Democrat theory. My mother was instrumental in helping with my children, and kinship, church, and community often make better caregivers than daycares. I had a child at 17 and wouldn’t have made it without my village. While it’s not policy per se, it’s practical advice and a return to traditional values. The second half of the discussion was sound policy, but you conveniently ignored that.

“Ask grandma to watch them for free” is not policy.

@Chasten This clip says we need to 'empower people to get the training they need' but somehow be against mandating training for childcare workers? Maybe advocate for paying people more?

@nikicaga Illinois is deep deep blue. CA hasn't voted for the GOP pres candidate since 1992. NY hasn't backed a GOP candidate for pres in this century.

@marxseventh @DjQueOne @emanabdelhadi Yeah, because he always does what he promises. And never promises the exact opposite to a different group, or anything.

@DjQueOne @emanabdelhadi Trump promised to end the genocide immediately. How is that not better than Harris?

@TheaLanden They're both responding to a social media plea for donation of housewares and clothing for a needy family, and show up at the same time with the same thing. An initially competitive convo (oh, well, these sheets are organic cotton) /becomes lighthearted and flirtatious.

@NateSilver538 why? His negatives outweigh his positives, and it feels like more stuff will come out. Even if none of it is disqualifying, taken together, a steady drip drip drip will weigh down the ticket

Pity JD Vance if he ever has to debate Minnesota Governor @GovTimWalz on family values.

@rebeccamakkai yes, that is exactly how it feels. Somehow it feels like a personal betrayal.

HERE'S THE PROBLEM:
Trump is a decisive communicator but LIES.
Biden tells the TRUTH but not as clearly and assertively.
It's misinformation vs. democracy — the entire challenge of our nation in one debate. Ugh. #Debates2024

@rebeccamakkai I am trying...but oh my god, this is so painful
