The City of Victoria is directing people near Crystal Pool in #VictoriaBC to Shelter in Place to avoid exposure to a hazardous material. This will remain in effect until the incident has been resolved. Go indoors or avoid the area. Close windows/doors & turn off ventilation systems. Yesterday I attended the 20th Anniversary of the Highway of Tears Symposium in Prince George, where I joined a meaningful public safety dialogue on justice, accountability and safety for MMIWG2S+ alongside my federal counterpart Minister @gary_srp I was also honoured to sit down with families who have lost loved ones — to listen to their stories and acknowledge their tireless advocacy. We spoke about the work our government is doing to support Indigenous-led solutions and continue implementing “A Path Forward,” B.C.’s response to the MMIWG Calls for Justice. As B.C.’s Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, I am deeply committed to this work and am guided by Indigenous communities and the families of the missing and murdered. Together, we must continue the work needed to ensure all people are safe and protected from violence.
