I’m always intrigued by this perspective. I went to school at 17. First gen student. Did what everyone said to do and ended up at the best school that accepted me and accrued lots of debt. Definitely didn’t know what I was taking on and suspect most 17/18 year olds don’t either.

@DanPriceSeattle @mstratford No kids and paid all my college expenses. I’m not in favor of paying taxes so someone else’s kids go to college at my/taxpayer expense I knew what I was getting into when I took out those loans. I studied a useful field and got a JOB. It’s not hard. The next generation can too.

@walsh_packard It’s utter bullshit that it shapes their curriculum. The public school education in this country is not that good. It is advanced legal and social science theory. Teachers don’t know it either. Thanks for weighing in.

I learned/used CRT as a theoretical framework for my doctoral dissertation which took two years to write. Your 9 year old ain’t learning it in their 3rd grade classroom. Period.

It also hurts deeply to be reminded over and over again that white supremacy and anti blackness render black folks inhuman and inferior. Surprising, of course not. But painful. Like a punch to the gut every single time.

I find the “why are you surprised?” reaction galling. I’m not surprised. I’m taken aback; I’m disappointed. I’d like to believe we are all better than we are and it stings every single time I’m reminded that it’s just not true.

@_DCHealth got through at 9, spent 52 minutes mostly on hold. The very nice rep was on the same site we were, it was down for her too. In the end, it showed there were 700 appointments available but she still couldn’t book one for me. Complete insanity!

@ChelleTweets The roll out here in DC has been horrific. No availability in pharmacies so you can only go through DC Health unless you are a health care worker. I’ve been trying for three days, system crashes each time. Was on the phone with a rep for an hour today still no appointments
