It's not often the co-founders and I author blog posts together, but we thought this one is important so we took time to write this together with the Neon team. In this blog we outline why we think a new type of database will slowly take over and replace all existing databases, we call it the Lakebase. We cover the WHY and the WHAT here: 𝐀 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐄𝐫𝐚 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬: 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞 databricks.com/blog/what-is-a…

@elonmusk Dear Elon, We urgently seek your help. Many talented individuals, including AI professionals, are stuck in administrative processing for U.S. visas under section 221(g). Despite approved petitions, we're waiting 9-12+ months post-interview. This delay harms innovation.

Only 15% of people believed that a real HTTP server could be done in under 200 LOC in assembly. Here is my MacOS arm assembly version that includes: - primitive routing - real configuration (like port is not hardcoded) - a lot of comments and still is under 200 LOC despite a lot of structural newlines and comments. Yes, I used libc but I think that proves that assembly is not scary.

Exciting news! After months of hard work, our team at Playbook has launched a game-changer for creative teams! producthunt.com/posts/playbook… 🎨✨ 'Playbook x GPT' - the smart way to search your media files. Forget filenames, just ask what you remember! The idea is simple and should be everywhere, but it was surprisingly challenging to implement it in a way that feels right and smooth :)

Is there a document-based (or similar) database that uses git as a storage engine?

@cramforce Git is weird in that sense because "storage engine" is basically a naming/hashing convention for bunch of files. So you kind of automatically can use git cli to access it.

@kelvich I think it's the opposite since it is more like a filesystem (like git) and less like a database

@cramforce doc is a bit involved, but TLDR set of files they expose is conformant enough so that one can use usual git cli. Set operation is `echo "value" > /path/to/key`.

@kelvich Unless, of course, you only care about talking to someone securely, in which case you only need to know that the connection has been made with TLS using a good keypair. You may not be talking to someone you know, but at least no-one can listen in on the conversation.
