Michkov undeniably had a bad game. You can defend Michkov without going the "he's perfect & his struggles are all someone else's fault" route. It kills your credibility. But you can be critical of Michkov without "he stinks, bust, trade him." It kills YOUR credibility too.

I haven’t commented on the Flyers for a long time because many fans have realized that Tocchet is a major problem, so I no longer felt the need to say anything. However, in the past few days, I can only laugh at some fans again. Once again, they believed (and probably still believe) in another fake playoff push that wouldn’t solve anything anyway. It wouldn’t move the organization forward at all. Owen Tippett has become “untouchable” (a 50-point player at age 27, lol). Drysdale is supposedly excellent, Sanheim and York are bad, Michkov basically has no value anymore… And yet all it takes is to realize it’s been the same cycle over and over again for about 15 years. Still, some people got fooled again by a few wins… Clearly, some will never learn… On the other hand, I can understand it from fans who really only follow the Flyers. From many of them, I’ve sensed they have no idea how the best players and top teams actually play nowadays. So when they see a few solid performances from Drysdale or Tippett, they immediately get overly excited. In reality, they’re not special players at all—just a 2nd pairing defenseman and a 2nd line winger.

The hilarious thing about Tocchet is his intentional sabotage of the team. When Briere makes him use his guys correctly, the team's talent carries them, as we've seen these past couple weeks. If Tocchet had used them right all season, they'd comfortably be in a playoff spot.

Martone gets to play his natural position right away (as he should), but it took into March to play Michkov at his natural position, and to try Zegras at center. Tocchet got the order from Briere again to play them at the right spots

Phillies claimed they shifted all the way to essentially run prevention, yet it’s game 4. They have benched their gold glove caliber second baseman twice because they ~need~ to give a utility guy reps in a platoon, and they are giving their 22-year-old rangy centerfielder a ~much~ needed day off which has resulted in roughly 4 runs added to this game for the Nats (so far) that simply wouldn’t have happened with Stott and Crawford in the lineup. I am aware that it's game 4 of 162, but it's already starting to feel like 2012. Older vets past their prime, team goes from 102 wins down to 81, and the collapse starts.

Everyone getting fired up about Tocchet as if Briere didn't have to force him to use his players the right way (Michkov at RW, Zegras at C, etc). Look, if they make the playoffs, I'll root for them like we all should. But let's not pretend that this is sustainable long term
