@lew1ya Extra to g the honey also / it is better to sun dry the combs in buckets, under glass, takes time, but you then get pure honey. I’d you centrifuge part of the wax is also extracted and mixes with the honey. It truly is a fascinating subject.

@lew1ya There is a book called Bee Keeping in Sri Lanka by Dr Punchihewa. It is in English as well and is an amazing book.

@lew1ya Smoke and take out the frames, cut comb into bowls. Check the hive to see all clean. Put it back together and they return. You need to be careful with the Queen as they can swarm@and abscond. Need to wear protective gear too.

Heard yesterday that jackals used to hunt wild boar 🐗 piglets. The decline in wild jackals thanks to stray dogs 🐕 is a blow to boar management.

@Lanka_Wildlife Unauthorized garbage dumps, especially upcountry have seen localized wild boar populations increase and as near main roads, no hunting. Quite common to see a sounder of 10-15 on the Welimada - Bandarawela main road.
