The Acting General Manager for Infrastructure Development, Eng. Kennedy Owino, was one of the panelists during the ongoing 2026 Energy Access Investment Forum organised by the Alliance for Rural Electrification. Eng Owino said the Company is making deliberate steps to modernise the grid using technology in a bid to combat technical and commercial losses. Some of these initiatives include smart metering and grid automation. With a national network exceeding 85,000 transformers, the Company plans to meter 30,000 transformers in phase one, laying the foundation for intelligent grid management, strengthened accountability, and a more resilient energy future. #PamojaTwangaa #PoweringKenya ^KN

Earlier this week, our Board chairman, Joy Brenda Masinde, represented Kenya Power at the official launch of Chapter Zero Kenya, a landmark platform advancing boardroom accountability on climate and nature risk. Convening leaders across governance, finance, conservation, and policy, the launch marks Kenya’s integration into a global movement spanning over 70 countries. The initiative sets a new benchmark for embedding sustainability into governance, strategy, and capital allocation. At Kenya Power, this commitment is already taking shape. The Company continues to advance grid resilience, integrate renewable energy sources, and champion energy efficiency initiatives that support Kenya’s low-carbon transition. By strengthening infrastructure against climate shocks and aligning operations with sustainable practices, Kenya Power is positioning itself not only as a utility provider, but as a steward of the country’s energy future in an era defined by climate responsibility. #PamojaTwangaa #PoweringKenya ^ZM

Yesterday, the Company had the honour of hosting a six-member delegation from Ghana’s Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), in a high-level exchange focused on the future of energy and electric mobility in Africa. The PURC delegation’s visit provided a valuable platform to benchmark regulatory and tariff frameworks, and to share practical insights drawn from Kenya’s evolving EV landscape. Discussions covered EV grid integration, infrastructure planning, data-driven energy management, and the policy considerations necessary to scale adoption sustainably. This engagement underscores the growing importance of cross-border collaboration in shaping Africa’s clean energy future. By exchanging knowledge and aligning approaches, both Kenya and Ghana are taking meaningful steps toward building resilient, efficient, and low-carbon transport systems that will define the continent’s next phase of growth. As Kenya accelerates its transition toward sustainable transport, Kenya Power is playing a central role in enabling the growth of the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. This includes advancing EV-friendly tariff structures, strengthening grid readiness to support increased electricity demand, investing in distribution network planning, and smart metering and billing solutions tailored to EV users. The utility is also actively supporting the development and management of EV fleets, while collaborating with public and private sector partners to expand charging infrastructure across the country. #PamojaTwangaa #PoweringKenya ^ZM
