D3 basketball in a nutshell: “We still can’t give athletic scholarships, but we will have a 6’5” double history & psychology major, on a full academic ride, who plays like he’s been 34 since childhood.”

@Anthony_Pugh2 I played in that era … here’s the thing: it was never really “in.” High expectations, accountability, and support are what it’s always been about. Too many coaches watched Bobby Knight back in the day and thought: “When I get a whistle…”

Being “coached hard” is not the same as coaches demeaning players The best coaches I’ve seen/been around achieve the balance between coaching hard and also putting their arm around you at the end of the day. It’s about WHAT you say. Screaming to scream is out.
