When we recognize we’re not leading the churches WE built, using the gifts WE create, standing on platforms WE curate our posture in ministry shifts to surrender & obedience and God’s favor & anointing can flow.

OK so story 1 from the Post Evangelical Collective (no pic for this one so I am just gonna use their website graphic). Or may I'll end up rambling—who knows? I went to a breakout session about what c*s-het-allo Christians can learn from queer Christians about the closet. 1/

I just heard that Israel has cut off the water supply into Gaza, which is horrifying and could create a deeper humanitarian crisis. It is also a reminder of the imbalance of power in this ongoing conflict. And here is an important reminder to any Christian who might be inclined to think of Palestinians as the “enemy.” This is the command of Scripture: “If your enemy is hungry, feed them; if your enemy is thirsty, give them something to drink.” That’s how Scripture teaches us to treat others, even someone we consider an “enemy.” We cannot love our enemies as Christ commands, and simultaneously prepare to kill them.

Thanks for catching this moment- what a stunning pic of all the roles women are designed and invited to play. We’re all better for it, thank you!

i captured this amazing moment while @kerilad was preaching at Denver Community Church this morning. As she preached, a mother in the congregation began to comfort her infant next to the stage. Women belong behind the pulpit just as much as they belong nursing their babies.

Oh look, another textbook case of how abuse thrives in churches like JMac's, how Chr leaders circle wagons to make it so hard to hold leaders accountable. You see how this works, right? Malign those speaking out, defend perpetrators/enablers & KEEP PEOPLE FROM LISTENING TO WOMEN.

The only people who decry justice are the ones who benefit from injustice. The only people who decry equality are the ones who benefit from inequality. The only people who decry liberation are the ones who benefit from oppression.

You can’t desire religious freedom when the only religion you think deserves freedom is white Christianity.

It’s breathtaking to think about the amount of rich theology we could be learning if we didn’t have to spend so much time hashing out endless specific stipulations about how “real” men or women are supposed to talk, act, sing, stand, sit, live. There’s so much more than this.

So glad to hear from my dear friend @scotmcknight. He called for a standing ovation for the courageous women and men who have spoken the truth to churches and said, “We believe you.” #restore2022

Shout out to all the pastors who are also planning the Easter menu, prepping the outfits, and filling the baskets while you prepare for Sunday! 😅

This is what Jesus like leadership looks like, fam. Praying for you and the victim now, Danielle. I know there is unspeakable loss- relationally, spiritually, practically, emotionally. Standing with you and this brave woman.
Danielle Strickland@djstrickland

I’ve resigned my position as teaching pastor @TheMeetingHouse in solidarity with the victim of abuse. I’ll be releasing a statement from her on Wednesday when the leadership releases their statement to the church body.

I’m inclined to believe that God is secure and non-anxious, not thrown off by our disorientation, doubts, despair…infinitely patient, even as we wander. I think there is a parable about this. It is we who want the dark nights to be less messy and disruptive.

I love that there is a whole dang story in the Bible about a physical worship space being literally torn open and at least partly destructed to make space for the inclusion of a disabled person and Jesus was like "this is the right thing" and people still think it's a debate.

When we pray in silence we consent to being loved by a God who chooses to be present regardless of our productivity or performance. In the silence you learn to hear "Beloved."
