BREAKING: Israel dismisses IDF top lawyer Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi for leaking video of Israeli soldiers raping Palestinian. Minister of Defense of Israel Israel Katz threatens her with 'imprisonment for many years" & calls her actions "a grave blood libel against heroic IDF fighters." Rape victim suffered ruptured intestine, severe injury to anus, lungs & broken ribs. Israelis rioted for the right to rape, ministers defended rapists and one rapist became a TV celebrity. All charges were dropped. This is Israel

This article says climate change is “believed to have played a role” in the UK's extreme heat this week. As a climate scientist, let me fact-check that. First, climate change is not a religion. No belief is required. It is about evidence. And the evidence has been crystal clear for more than two decades: climate change is making heat waves hotter, longer, more frequent and more dangerous. In fact, science has advanced far beyond saying climate change merely “played a role.” Today, we can quantify how much more likely and how much hotter climate change made a specific event. Here's the bottom line: Climate is changing. Humans are responsible. And we are experiencing the impacts now. That’s the bad news. The good news is that solutions already exist, and the majority of people care - 89%, around the world! But meaningful action depends on helping people understand not just what is happening: we need to know how it affects our lives (this heat wave being example A today) and what we can do about it. That’s the opportunity this reporting missed. bbc.com/news/articles/…

@kerrand @CopScouse What the 97% studies actually show is that most climate scientists agree humans have *some* warming impact on climate. “Some” = Manageable. The studies don't show any consensus on catastrophic impact, or crisis-level danger, or on the need to eliminate fossil fuels.

"Hottest May day for nearly 80 years", screams The Guardian. theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/m… In other words, 80 years ago it was even hotter. In other words, the climate is getting COOLER! All thanks to CO2, or so we're (without hard scientific evidence) told.
Ryan Maue@RyanWeather

UK and Western Europe being brutalized by a "heat dome" fueled by dry African desert air, and "contorted" jet stream. Climate change is the main culprit causing this nearly-unprecedented heat event, otherwise impossible without fossil fuels.

@tallrite @CopScouse Tony Allwrong rides again! "MIGHT have SOME influence"? 🤣 How about "unequivocally" instead? "Only a tiny percentage said this was some kind of big deal". No big deal? Really? 🤣

@kerrand @CopScouse False. 97% said CO2 MIGHT have SOME influence on the climate. Only a tiny percentage said this was some kind of big deal. Because it isn't.

@anika_climate Oh, please. Compared to it being dark for 62% of the time during winters in Australia. Give it up, lass. You're wasting whatever talent and credibility you have.

@kerrand It makes a lot of sense in Australia, in the UK it is dark for 70% of the time in Winter - solar makes no sense whatsoever.

“Renewables are cheaper.” Then why do countries with the biggest renewable buildouts also have some of the highest electricity prices?

@ChrisO_wiki @Sai_Ishaya_ Brighton beach was such a disappointment when I finally visited it. Just huge pebbles. Must've been particularly uncomfortable for nudists, having to lie on their stomachs due to the shopping bag-laden gawping idiots wandering around hoping for a gander at 'naughty bits'.

@Sai_Ishaya_ Maybe not the South Coast beaches (apart from Littlehampton); they're mostly shingle so not the most comfortable.

London doesn't need an inner-city beach. It needs serious investment in places like Southend, Margate, Whitstable, Brighton, Ramsgate and Hastings, ith faster, cheaper, more frequent trains so Londoners can reach actual beaches. Build one on the Thames and it'll become a members-only sandpit with £18 chips, "a premium cabana experience," and endless culture-war videos featuring Ant Middleton about a beach invasion by foreigners.
Jon Stone@joncstone

London is the greatest city in the world but one thing it does lack is a good beach. If we're gonna have more days like this we should 1) clean up the water and 2) build a big beach in inner London accessible by tube. (NYC did this in the 1930s) How about along the shore here

@Ryder56004614 Good question. Does it prevent crabs or give you crabs? 🤔 Reminds me of shampoo that's "For greasy hair". I'm still not sure whether it's for people who do or do not want greasy hair.

@CopScouse @tallrite Nice bit of cherry picking! Bellamy clearly isn't one of the 97% of the world's experts on climate who concluded years ago that human-induced emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases are causing global warming, which causes climate change. It's no longer open for debate.
