There are many cues we take for granted at mealtimes. For example, cooking aromas, sitting at the table, dishing up the meal & anticipation of the taste. Taking time & care of these simple rituals prepares our body & maximises potential. #WithSLTuCan

Excellent insights into #SelfNeglect and Social work responses. Key message, self neglect is not a lifestyle choice, often trauma is an underlying factor and capacity should not be conflated with executive capacity- relational autonomy is paramount @BASW_UK

Most of us have typical routines. A cup of coffee every morning. A longer lie on a Saturday. Cooked breakfast on a Sunday. Routines provide structure but they also provide reassurance. Understanding a person with #dementia’s routine is key to minimising stress & distress.

It can be tricky for someone with dementia to find items stored inside cupboards, such as kitchen units. Consider placing labels on the doors with a photo of what’s inside, removing unit doors, having open shelves, or fitting transparent glass doors. #WithOTuCAN
