Where did the white people go from Gorton? The silent cleansing of England means we don't hear about when individual decisions were made to ''get out''. The quiet mutterings over the dinner table that things were just getting worse. There was a time when Gorton was English, and now it isn't. But the gap between the one and the other is never the subject of conversation, let alone any empathy. What about the little hold-outs? How are they doing? Can't they afford to leave? Does anybody care?

What if we had 'child safe' social media - which is what I enjoyed growing up.
No addictive algorithm, chasing you down rabbit holes.
Just a chronological timeline of people *you* choose to follow.
A compromise for u16s could be this: no algorithmic feed and no third party DMs.

We shouldn't blame Grok for putting people in bikinis. Grok wasn't specifically programmed to put people in bikinis. Grok can put anyone in any clothes. It's on the *user* if they want to do good or ill. We don't boycott photoshop because you *can* use it to put people in bikinis. We understand that's on the user. Perhaps a solution here is ban anon accounts from using the feature. You generate it? That's on you. And you should fear the consequences.

About that "e-bikes are cheating" claim by cycling purists:
Studies show e-bike users log significantly more distance and time in the saddle. They ride more miles than using traditional bikes because the battery flattens hills and makes them more confident in mixed traffic.

@tomhfh Even if we're burning some gas or wood (fuck Drax) now to generate electricity, the fact that it is electricity means we can swap in solar, wind, hydropower storage, batteries, French nuclear, Spanish solar easily without moving stuff to be burnt around.

@tomhfh Switching to electric power is a huge systemic saving because electricity is fungible. Burning stuff instead has a huge overhead of moving the stuff you burn around so it is about 50% wasted.

Last year global emissions grew by 1% - the same growth is predicted this year.
