We GRAMAed the public comments about the proposed Stratos data center. Of residents of Box Elder County, 242 were against, with just seven in favor. Of those in Utah overall, it was approximately 93.5% against, 0.6% in favor.

The massive Utah data center, called the Stratos Project, will be as big as 2,000 Walmarts, will need 9GW of electricity to run, and will generate the heat equivalent of 23 atom bombs detonating every single day in Hansel Valley. The expected impact of wildlife is catastrophic.

so people in Utah spent $60k to protest the water rights transfer for this project, since that was the only way to be heard. and the developers' solution is to withdraw and re-file later, so they can start the whole process over and force people to pay to object again. scumbags

We’re looking at New Park Resort because it has a private balcony suite with hot tub.

Why are Utahns mad?
This data center will use more than 2x of the ENTIRE STATE’S current power usage and will be powered entirely by natural gas.
It will be placed in the desert which due to topography has extremely limited water and (already) the worst air quality in the USA.

Kevin O'Leary's massive data center was approved by a county commission in Utah last night. At 40,000 acres, it would be 2.5x the size of Manhattan. The commission approved the proposal despite opposition from hundreds of locals.
