Also, every post I make here feels like a scream in hell, amongst the wailing damned. Futile. It’s not that way for everyone. Some are able to build coalitions here. I’ve chosen to focus instead on closer relationships with friends, family, and colleagues for my mental health.

I haven’t posted on here in a while, and won’t post here ever again. Every post I make here now supports Elon Musk’s sociopolitical aspirations, drives up engagement with his platform. I cannot in good conscience stay here anymore.

@jeffzwang I wouldn't be able to tell who you were from this essay. It reads pithy and cutesy, in an "I don't know what else to say" way. I know so many great kids who have real things to say. Do they really have to write this kind of thing? 😔

I got into Harvard + almost every college I applied to w/ an essay about studying at McDonalds. Had multiple admissions officers write me handwritten letters complimenting me on it To any frantic high school senior, the best advice I got was - keep in mind that the admissions officer is some dude lying on a couch reading your essay at 10pm. Make sure that this person is entertained and thinks that you're an authentic human being. Godspeed🫡

Recently, I've had a hard time using social media. Posting feels futile or even harmful, responding to posts is worse. I've lost faith in social media. But I want to stay connected. How do you keep your relationship to SM healthy? How do we repair our relationships to SM?

For the record, I feel overwhelmed daily… but I'm comforted by the thought that I'm not alone.

This comes up quite a bit when I talk with my white cishet colleagues. Some of them get overwhelmed (😳) when they realize what justice requires of them. Sometimes I think that's a litmus test: if they don't feel overwhelmed, then they don't understand.

@roqdrummer You might notice it more subconsciously, tho. I think lots of people do. Like… Hades is a game that celebrates prose and lyricism in a way that honors the Greek and Latin texts it draws from. I think people understand this, even if they're not aware that they do.

@roqdrummer RPGs in this style are just, for me, really nice interactive novels. Enjoying the writing is part of the experience. For a game like this to have bad grammar is just as bad as having glitchy graphics or broken mechanics — and I just don't have the patience for it.
