There is a moderate rip current risk at all area beaches today as northeast winds increase and swells build. High risk for rip currents develops across our Georgia beaches on Tuesday, with moderate rip risk continuing across our South Carolina beaches as breezy winds continue.

With the public's help heeding fire alerts and burning bans over the past few weeks, we've been fortunate so far in limiting wildfires to manageable levels. Above-average fire danger, however, is still expected through April, which has historically seen the most damaging and costliest wildfires in our state. The Forestry Commission urges anyone who plans to conduct an outdoor burn to exercise extreme caution and take all necessary precautions. Anyone who has conducted a burn recently should continue to monitor it closely because of the potential for it to reignite.
