My father, Imran Khan, has now spent over 900 days in a death cell with no family visits and no access to his personal doctors. Credible reports confirm he has been diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion, a dangerous blockage that can lead to permanent vision loss if not treated through urgent medical intervention in a proper hospital. Yet authorities continue to block his treatment and deny him the doctors he trusts. I am even denied the right to speak to him. This is not governance. This is authoritarian cruelty. I call on every defender of human rights to act before it is too late. The world must see that in Pakistan today, democracy is hollow and basic human rights are being crushed.

In January, the PPP allowed Sindh police to assault dozens of Baloch women in Lyari, including me. In March, it allowed Sindh police to beat and arrest female activists, civil society members and journalists, including me. In November, it allowed Sindh police to illegally detain me for doing my job. If the PPP doesn’t want police violence on women recorded, it should stop using women’s bodies as targets in Sindh and Balochistan.

I endured just five hours of illegal detention. Thousands endure far worse for far longer at the hands of Sindh Police. I can't begin to imagine their ordeal. If we speak for those with lesser privileges, many more could come home too. Thank you @MJibranNasir, Karachi civil society and media comrades.

Journalist @AlifyaSohail who was present at Karachi Press Club to cover the protest today against 27th Amendment between 4-5pm has been arrested shortly afterwards as per the last message received from her at 5.25pm after which her number has been switched off. Alifya has consistently covered civil society protests and specially missing persons cases and BYC led protests in Karachi. Here whereabouts remain unknown. The Govt will condemn harassment of a journalist if it suits their narrative but will arrest and abduct journalists without accountability if they dare cover the truth against them. We demand her immediate release. @BBhuttoZardari @dawn_com @etribune @TheCurrentPK

Journalist @AlifyaSohail, has been abducted from Karachi. Alifya has reported on civil society & missing persons cases for years. The government claims to oppose harassment of journalists yet targets those who document uncomfortable truths. Her immediate release must be ensured.

Journalist Alifya Sohail and another female Farwa Askari are both at Womens PS right now. Both not being released. Allegations against both is they are members of PTI. So being a member of PTI is now a crime enough for you to be arrested without FIR and harassed by being taken from one Police Station to another. Shame on Sindh Police, Shame on Sindh Govt Shame on the Establishment. @AsadAyub @BBhuttoZardari @dawn_com @etribune

Journalist Alifya is now currently at Women PS. She is not being released. Her phone has been away and police of both Civil Lines and Women PS are denying the whereabouts of the phone. Alifya regularly covers missing persons protests. Illegally taking hold of a journalist's phone through an illegal arrest is extremely concerning and should raise alarm for all journalists. @AsadAyub @BBhuttoZardari @NKMalazai @dawn_com @etribune

Can DIG Karachi South @AsadAyub explain under what law journalist @AlifyaSohail has been taken into custody and why is the Police at Civil Lines PS not releasing her. This is harassment, intimidation and violation of fundamental rights and an offence under law. Her detention/custody is illegal. You have been informed of this issue on your WhatsApp as well. We demand immediate release.
