At the High-Level Forum on Ending Mother-to-Child Transmission and Achieving the Triple Elimination of HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B, I joined fellow First Ladies, leaders, and partners in affirming a shared commitment: that no African child should begin life with a burden they did not choose.

Africa stands at a moment of profound possibility. We have made remarkable progress in reducing new paediatric HIV infections, but we must remember that progress is not victory. Every child still born with HIV reminds us to quicken our pace, and every mother who misses care calls us to strengthen our health systems with urgency and compassion.

No child should begin life with a burden they did not choose. Ending mother-to-child transmission is not only a medical obligation, it is a moral responsibility that calls for leadership, unity, and collective action. Arrived in Accra to join fellow First Ladies under the @OAFLAD umbrella, together with our partners, for the High-Level Forum on the Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission and the Triple Elimination of HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B in Africa.

2/2 The discussions reaffirmed the warm relations between Kenya and Ghana and explored new areas of collaboration within the transport sector under the spirit of Pan-African partnership.

1/2 Amb. Shem Amadi paid a courtesy call on Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Ghana, to discuss matters of mutual interest and strengthen cooperation between Kenya and Ghana.

Together with H.E @RMbabazi Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Ghana, we visited the Kenyan High Commission in Ghana to sign the condolence book in honour of the late Kenya’s former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga. We were received by H.E. Ambassador Shem Amadi. Our thoughts are with the people of Kenya during this time of mourning.

As the nation continues to mourn the passing of the Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, H.E. Amb. Shem Amadi led staff of the High Commission, members of the diplomatic corps, and the Kenyan diaspora in Accra in signing the condolence book in honour of the late former Prime Minister.

I thank you, fellow citizens, for turning out in great numbers to welcome Hon Odinga home. The outpouring of love and affection you have shown is a powerful reminder that he was, to the very end, a man of the people - devoted, selfless, and true to the ideals of our Republic.

President Ruto Leads the Nation in Paying Last Respects to the Late Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga Today, on 16th October 2025, His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, led the nation in viewing the remains of the late former Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Raila Amolo Odinga, as he lay in state at Kasarani Stadium. The solemn occasion was attended by His Excellency Prof. Abraham KIthure Kindiki, Deputy President of the Republic; Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary Foreign and Diaspora Affairs; His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta, former President; the Speakers of the National Assembly and the Senate; the Chief of the Defence Forces; members of the Cabinet; and senior government officials. Also present were leaders of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party, where the late Rt. Hon. Odinga served as Party Leader, alongside representatives from across the political divide, the diplomatic corps, and thousands of Kenyans who came to pay their final respects. Kenya mourns the Rt.Hon Raila Amolo Odinga.

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, H.E. Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, EGH, is in India to oversee and coordinate the repatriation of the remains of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga to Kenya.The Prime Cabinet Secretary conveyed Kenya’s deep appreciation to the Government and people of India for their cooperation, facilitation, and support during this difficult period. He noted that India’s swift assistance and solidarity reflect the warm and long-standing ties.

The presentation reaffirmed the historic Kenya–Ghana friendship and commitment to deepen ties in trade, tourism, infrastructure, wildlife conservation, and youth empowerment.

H.E. Col (Rtd) Shem Ishahilidza Amadi, MBS, OGW, psc(K), presented his Letters of Credence to H.E. President John Dramani Mahama on 19th, Sept 2025, marking the official commencement of his duties as Kenya’s High Commissioner in the Republic of Ghana.

Kenya-Ghana diplomatic relations are strong, cordial and dynamic, dating back to the pre-independence days and the enduring partnership between the founding fathers of our two nations. Ties between our two peoples have been boosted by five State Visits on both sides, and the expanding air links through Kenya Airways and the advanced plans to make Accra our airline's hub in West Africa. Our cooperation in trade and investment, tourism, education, and science and technology, among others, is underwritten by various memoranda of understanding.
